REACH FOR THE SKY (First images for project)

Before the rain moved up to Wooyong Beach we ran on the sand with the Nikon D70 and an umbrella on hand the sky gave some drama to the image and sky. Which worked well. I understood now how photographers often work on the moment waiting for the right time to take the shot, ready and on guard. I think more of this setting would be great only the rain hit after about ten minutes. Managing to get a least four decent shots. A little bit of photoshop was used with the levels and bright/contrast but my goal was to take a great photo rather than doing lots of editing.

'flight sequence' (seven images for project)

Flight sequence was my last shoot for this project. Taking advantage of Marie's gymnastics skills and brave jumps from the children's trampoline was a great chance to take some actions shots. A scary fall, more scary for myself as the photographer saw her get lost in the event and slip, to then crash into the fence, unfortunately this was not filmed. But the end result is elegant, in inspiration to Aaron Siskind's work, the asbsent background outlining the form of the body. A sculptural form capturing that instance in time and space is what I was trying to achieve. I used for this series of shots a pentax W90 on sport setting with multiple frames I was able to take fast shutter speed and many shots to capture the one right composition. Working them into black and white in photoshop and adjusting levels and the hightlights to give a  luminous look.
